How far is it to the beach?
The beach is a short 10-15 minute walk from the cottage down the beach road down through the meadows. You can see the proximity on the map here. It is no longer possible to drive down to the beach unfortunately, but once you have seen how close it is, you will realise that it really is not that far at all and a lovely walk to enjoy.
Is there any wifi at The Bolt Hole?
Yes, we have BT infinty so you can be rest assured on speed for streaming films and for those who rely on speed if work should pop up.
What types of payments do they take at The Bay?
The John Paul Jones Public house, The Bayside Kitchen and the leisure centre all take credit and debit cards as payments as well as cash of course.
If I book, do I pay all at once or in bits?
The deposit is £125 10 weeks before your stay.
Is there a security deposit when staying?
No a security deposit is not taken. We understand accidents happen like at home for example with a broken mug so we wont charge for these. But if there is something significantly damaged or missing then we will contact you, so please let us know in advance.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
We always advise guests that what we provide certain complimentary items such as dishwasher tablets, cloths, washing up liquid, tea towels and fresh toilet rolls for each toilet but after these are depleted then you will have to provide your own. We do not provide cleaning products due to the nature of such items being difficult to manage between stays and certain regulations on COSHH which is the law that requires the control of substances that are hazardous to health which cleaning product fall under..

What are the check in days at the Bolt Hole?
Check in day's are friday, saturday or a monday and constructed in such a way to coordinate with popular periods i.e short weekend breaks and weekly stays.
Can I bring my dog to the Bolt Hole?
No, unfortunately not sorry. The Bolt Hole is a pet free property. A pet free unit means that there has never been any animal in the property during it's use.
Is the Bolt Hole a non smoking property?
Yes the cottage is a non smoking property.
Are the facilities open all year round?
Most of the facilities are open throughout the year, however some are closed on days such as Christmas Day. The Bayside Kitchen opens seasonally usually from Easter until Autumn, check with reception at The Bay.. The leisure complex offers a different timetable of activities during the peak and off peak periods.
Can we use the pool and the gym?
Yes of course. The pool & gym pass entitles our guests entry to the facility by way of a pre coded swipe card you will receive when checking in at reception. Please remember to bring your own towels to the pool as they are not provided.
Is there a cash machine at The Bay?
Yes, there is an ATM in the John Paul Jones Public house.
Does the Bolt Hole have a sea view?
Unfortunately no. The rear does look out over a lake and golf course which is nice.
Is there any building work going on at The Bay?
The Bay are building some more holiday lodges on The Meadows in Summer/Winter 2020/21 but this is at the other isde of the site. No noise or disturbance will be encountered while staying at The Bolt Hole.
Where can we get logs for the log burner?
Logs can be bought from the Jet garage nearby here.
Do you have a travel cot and high chair?
Yes, on booking you can choose these items in your holiday package.
Do you supply baby gates?
Unfortunately not.
Can we bring our bicycles?
Yes indeed, however if you want to travel lightly you can hire bicycles from the Leisure Centre.
Do I need a fishing licence for the lake?
Yes, the lake operates under the national governing body for fishing and has a charge of £5 per day for fishing.
Are the activities like sea scooters free?
Unfortunately not. Please visit the bays website for full details on activities and prices.
Where can I get groceries? Is there a shop onsite?
Although there is no actual shop on the park there is a local mini mart within walking distance or 2 minutes drive here so for most people staying at The Bay is no different to home in this respect. See below for where the local Tesco is.
Can I get an online supermarket to deliver to The Bay?
Yes of course you can. Yes, Tesco & Sainsburys both deliver on site.
